VOLUNTEERS with skills such as poster designing and distributing, handling the accounts and planning stall positions are being sought to help ensure that Halesworth annual charity Thoroughfair goes ahead on Sunday, June 28.

Organisers say the 10th fair could be the last if more help cannot be found. It is run by a committee, which has got smaller over the years, and the search is on for anyone who thinks that they can spare a bit of time to help to continue a very well supported and well organised food, drink and craft fair, which raises money for local charities.

Representatives from three local organisations have received cheques from Halesworth's Thoroughfair Committee - £500 has been given to Halesworth Area First Responders, £500 to Halesworth & District Museum, £300 to the Halesworth Branch of East Suffolk Association for the Blind, and £300 to the Air Ambulance. Those generous donations will not be available after this year's event unless more volunteers come forward to work with the committee.

Next month's event in the town' main street will see it closed to traffic because of all the scrumptious and creative stalls which have been booking in since January. Stallholders come from all over the region bringing high quality food, drink and crafts. You will find cooked food and takeaway food, fresh fruit and vegetables, strawberries and flowers, olives and peppers, plants, herbs and spices. There will be a cheese stall, a coffee stall and a local farm offering burgers and sausages.

There is strong art and craft activity in the area there will be an amazing array of home crafted goods for sale, jewellery and pottery, woodturning and cards, clothes and bags. There will be children's activities - watch Punch and Judy and enjoy a delicious ice cream.

It will make for a great day out in a small market town tasting locally produced and organic products. Sponsors are Garden House Antiques, Yoxford, and Pearce & Kemp of Halesworth. Look at the website www.halesworth.net/thoroughfair to book a stall.

But future help from more volunteers is needed to help the committee to maintain the much-needed investment in local charities. If you think that you can help please contact 01986 875351 or mob. O7769644624.
