LORD of the Rings director Peter Jackson has made a personal video to be shown at the Hope for Haiti gigs, it was announced yesterday.

And actors Larry Lamb, Rob Brydon, Alison Steadman and David Morrissey will also appear on videos made for the two charity gigs in Halesworth.

The first of the Hope for Haiti gigs, which are headed by Hollywood actor Bernard Hill, takes place tonight at The Cut.

The second gig, on Sunday, March 7, has now sold out.

Over the two gigs, stars such as Andy Serkis, Mathew Horne, and Blockheads band member Chas Jankel will be taking part.

And this week the organisers announced that five videos from top celebrities had been made specially to be shown at the gigs.

Annette Dunning, co-organiser with Bernard Hill, said that Bafta-nominated actor Rob Brydon, pictured below, star of comedy shows such as Marion and Geoff and Gavin and Stacey, had sent in a very funny video.

Meanwhile, a video from Peter Jackson, who also directed King Kong and current smash-hit The Lovely Bones, arrived in Halesworth this week.

Alison Steadman, who created the role of Beverly in Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party and plays Pamela in Gavin and Stacey, will also be appearing by video along with David Morrissey, who played leading roles in the BBC drama State of Play and Channel Four's Red Riding.

Larry Lamb, best known for his role as Archie Mitchell in EastEnders, will also appear on video.

There are still limited tickets for tonight's show, which includes Buddy Holly tribute act Rave On, singer-songwriter Matthew P, funk-rock band The Fuzz, Bernard Hill's daughter Jay Hilalen, and guitarists Mark Chapman and Alan Bates.

The gig on Sunday, March 7, will include Lee Vasey, Andy Serkis, Chas Jankel, Ed Sheeran and Guateque.

Tickets cost 15 and are available from www.newcut.org.
