Scandinavian songstress Aurora brought her unique brand of powerful synth-ballads to thrill fans new and old at the BBC 6 Music Stage.

Quirky, kooky and pixie-like are all words which would go someway to describing Aurora Aksnes, but to fully appreciate her art she has to be viewed in the flesh.

Despite her slender frame and diminutive figure Aurora commands the stage, never resting for a moment as if the music is channelling through her in electrical currents before being transmitted to the audience- she is compelling viewing and listening.

Possessing an impressive vocal range and a backing band who offer a driving rhythm which adds a complimentary contrast to her delicate, ethereal voice.

Aurora really is a force of nature conjuring a dream like atmosphere for her audience with her electro-pop sound combining perfectly with the stage lighting to create an aurora borealis-esque effect, causing you to feel as if you are in her homeland of Norway.

Songs such as I Went Too Far demonstrate the diversity of her set with its stomping beat resulting in spontaneous outbursts of dance among the audience and is surely a song which is to become a summer festival favourite for many years to come.

In between each song, once the theatrics and excitement have lulled, Aurora shows herself to be a shy, unassuming character frequently thanking the crowd, unable to prevent a cherubic smile from developing across her face.

'Thank you for coming to see us, its always nicer when people come to listen to you' and with performances like this there should be no doubt that many more will come and experience this magical performer in concert.
