Newbands, comedians and writers have been added to the acts confirmed for this summer's Latitude festival.

The event, which takes place at Henham Park, between Beccles and Southwold, from July 17 to 20 will be headlined by Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand and additional musical acts have just been announced.

Grinderman, made up from the members of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, will be one of the highlights of the weekend when they play on Sunday night. Brighton-based six-piece The Go! Team, whose music mixes indie rock with 70s funk, will also appear on the Obelisk stage along with one of the most popular acts from last year, American blues singer Seasick Steve. Nottingham-based cult stars Tindersticks will be performing Sunday night.

In the literary arena, Dave Gorman and Mark Thomas have been added to the line-up. Mr Gorman is a documentary-maker, writer and stand-up comedian, who will be reading from his most recent book, America Unchained, about trying to travel across the United States using only independent businesses and no chains. Mr Thomas is best known for his political comedy shows, and is working on his new book, an investigation into the Coca-Cola corporation.

Also confirmed yesterday was award-winning British-Iranian comedian Omid Djalili. The former Perrier Award nominee, and occasional Have I Got News for You Presenter also has his own BBC television show. Organisers Festival Republic promise a larger tent and outside screens to address the fact that not everyone trying to hear the popular comics could get into the tent last year.

Tickets for Latitude are now on sale at www.latitudefestival.co.uk or by calling 0871 231 0821, priced at £130 for the weekend or £55 for a day, plus booking fees.
