BECCLES Lido is still on track to open in time for the summer holidays, the charity running the pool said this week.

Shaun Crowley, director of Beccles Lido Limited, said: “We have installed new pumps in the plant room and upgraded the electrics in readiness for the new works that will take place in the coming weeks.

“A new disabled ramp is nearing completion and the next stage will be to empty the pool and repair the crack.”

And there was more good news, as the Beccles Lido Limited revealed that over 200 tickets have now been sold for the monthly lottery that raises funds for the charity.

Just 12 months after its launch, the Beccles Lido Lottery has now sold 211 tickets. Last Friday the 200th lottery ticket holder Ray Buck drew the winning ticket for the May draw.

The winners of the May lottery were: first prize, Mrs Skinner, £131; second prize, Mr Buck, £79; and third prize, Mrs Farmer, £52.

Beccles Lido Limited's campaign to save the pool has now raised more than £200,000.

Application forms for the lottery are now available from Beccles Travel, Florian's Sandwich Bar and Café, Gary's Discount, Quayside Conservatories, Saxon Alternative Therapy Centre, The Stationery Shop, RazorArt, and Ellough Park Raceway.

They can also be downloaded from www.beccleslido.com or from Maureen Saunders on 01502 714911.
