A generous donation of £1,000 from Bungay Lions Club has helped Eastern Rivers Community Gym at Loddon to continue providing an important local fitness facility.
The cheque was presented by Jane Gardiner, president of the club, to the gym’s honorary secretary Richard Birbeck at the Loddon Swan on February 3.
The not-for-profit gym has more than 130 members and, during its three years of operating, has had over 11,000 member visits.
Honorary chairman Dennis Passingham said: “As a community facility with users from local towns and villages we rely on support from charitable organisations and are extremely grateful to the Lions for helping us in this way.”
A spokesman from Bungay Lions added: “The majority of the money we raise from our fundraising events, such as the Classic Vehicle Rally at Earsham Hall in May and the Santa sleigh runs at Christmas, is spent locally. Therefore we are very happy to support The Eastern Rivers Community Gym so that they can continue to provide much needed fitness and well being classes for the local community.”
