Take a trip down memory lane with our fabulous photographic celebration of East Anglian life through the decade. Today we focus on the picturesque town of Bungay which is situated in the Waveney Valley,
A Waveney Valley feature, Bungay has long enjoyed strong links with agriculture and food producers from the surrounding farm and grazing land.
The central Buttercross in the market place was constructed in 1689 and was the place where local farmers would display their butter and other farm produce for sale. It has been the setting for the town’s market for several hundred years and continues to be an important part of community life today.
The pretty streets and traditional marketplace have also hosted many parades and events over the decades, creating quite a spectacle among the old buildings.
