Man who died in Aldeby crash is named

Police were called to the accident on Beccles Road after the crash between a white Fiat 500 and a black Mitsubishi L200. on Saturday morning, April 28.

The cars had been travelling in opposite directions and despite the best efforts of police and paramedics, Mr Blowers, who was driving the Fiat and aged in his 20s, died at the scene.

Tim Wright, chairman of Aldeby Parish Council, spoke of his shock and sadness upon hearing about the tragedy in the village.

He said: “It’s awful – it is so sad for a young man to lose his life.

“It is so sad to hear someone has been killed on our roads and always awful when someone is killed in such tragic circumstances.”

The chairman said the parish council will now await any recommendations for the road from police and Norfolk County Council.

He explained parishioners had previously expressed concerns about the speed limit along the road and the incident would be discussed at the council’s annual general meeting on Wednesday, May 2.

Mr Wright added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time and we offer our deepest sympathies.

“But words do seem inadequate at a time like this.”

On Saturday police closed Beccles Road while emergency services dealt with the 7.45am incident and carried out initial investigations.

Fire crews from Beccles, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft South also attended the scene to assist the police and ambulance.

The road was reopened at 1.30pm.

There have also been a number of tributes shared on social media in memory of Mr Blowers.

One post on Facebook from Kyrie Mayston said: “RIP Daniel, I still can’t believe you’ve gone, far too young.”

Another post from Hayley O’Neill said: “Thoughts are with his loved ones.”

Officers are keen to hear from people who may have witnessed the incident, or has information about the driving manner of the vehicles.
