It promises to be an exciting weekend full of entertainment.
And the final preparations are now under way for Charter Weekend taking place in Beccles tomorrow and Sunday.
Beccles Museum in Ballygate will be hosting an exhibition on the life of Eleanor Pagan, known as Molly.
Born in Alburgh in 1905, she bought Leman House, now the museum, in the mid 1940s and set up a school there.
Aside from the normal school curriculum, she had a passion for the outdoor world.
She used her artistic talents to draw and paint flowers, foliage and bird life, which are recorded in two large catalogues.
Almost half her records will be on show at the museum during the open gardens and charter weekend.
It is open from 11am to 4.30pm tomorrow and Sunday, and from 1.45pm to 4.30pm from Tuesday to Friday next week.
Over at St Michael’s Church, Beccles Camera Club has set up an exhibition of members’ prints for Charter Weekend, which will be on display until Monday.
It includes a selection of work from eight members and the church will also host embroidery and weaving exhibitions with other stands and refreshments.
Charter weekend, which is being held to celebrate the granting of the original charter by Queen Elizabeth I to the town in 1584, will centre around three hubs - the museum, St Michael’s Church and Hippersons Boatyard.
Another highlight will be Beccles Open Gardens, with 14 spaces open to the public. Tickets can be bought at Beccles Museum.
The weekend will also feature historic boats and waterside activities at the boatyard and Beccles Community Arts - the group behind the town’s annual Harvest Moon Music Festival - is laying on musical events at each of the hubs.
Today at St Michael’s Church, local accordion player Svetla Georgleva will be performing from 10am to noon, followed by a concert featuring a children’s choir of more than 100 at 7pm, with free entry.
Tomorrow, there will be music at the museum from the Beccles Early Music Recorder Consort from 11am to 12.30pm, with two performances at the boatyard at 11am and noon from the Beccles U3A Ukelele Group and Bill Pipe.
And on Sunday, there will be music at Hippersons Boatyard from noon to 3pm, along with a performance at St Michael’s Church by The Oulton Broads at 2pm.
