A taster of some of the new range of products stocked at Beccles and District Museum will be on sale at the town’s weekly market this Friday.
The museum, which re-opens on Good Friday, March 30, for the summer season, has been given a revamp, with a better display area created in its shop.
Jacqui Holmes and Christine Wheeler took over the running of the shop in November and after a comprehensive stock take have been refreshing what’s on offer.
Souvenirs include bags, purses and fridge magnets, along with more blank cards, including a range from local card company Green Pebble, and a small selection of Shire books to tie in with the museum’s temporary exhibitions.
The popular Daniel of Beccles mugs will also be sold in the shop, and historians believe that Daniel may have been a member of Henry II’s court.
The Book of the Civilized Man was written by Daniel of Beccles and is believed to be the first English book of manners, dating probably from the beginning of the 13th century.
As admission to the museum is free, donations and profits from the shop provide vital revenue to keep the facility alive.
