BUNGAY is to host a music bash next Saturday which will see electronic music fans descend on the town from across the country.
The event is organised by Bungay-based music producers and artist David and Elaine Wright, whose company AD Music moved to Suffolk from the south coast around 10 years ago.
It is hoped that the Bungay Bash, which is being held at the Fisher Theatre, could become an annual fixture in the town’s calendar.
AD Music has mainly held concerts in the north of the country because many fans are based in that area, but most of Mr Wright’s band, Code Indigo, live in Suffolk and Norfolk so it was decided that they would hold the event in Suffolk.
The event should bring people to the area and the label has already advertised local bed and breakfasts and hotels on their website.
“It is good for business and good for the theatre,” said Mrs Wright. “We have got people coming for most of the day.”
As well as a mix of traditional electronica music and instrumental rock, there will be graphic backdrops and lighting from some of Europe’s finest artists.
There will also be real ale on tap. The event is being filmed for a DVD release and the artist’s CDs and music will be on sale.
Geigertek, David Wright, Callisto and Code Indigo will be on the main stage during the afternoon and into the evening, and Steven Scott will perform in the cellar during intervals.
The label’s music is bought around the world and there are already fans signed up for the bash from across the UK.
In the past fans from Australia and the US have travelled to AD Music’s concerts.
“We have such a wide range of age groups from young teenagers to fans into their ’90s. People who like electronic music such as Pink Floyd like our music so we’ve kept on reaching out to people who like electronic music,” said Mrs Wright.
The company held an event at the Fisher Theatre when it first opened around four years ago and they held a small event there.
She said they hoped to attracted local people to enjoy the music too.
