James Aggett has been announced as the new manager of Beccles Public Hall.

The 27-year-old, who moved to the town last year has been volunteering at the venue for the past few months and is keen to get to grips with his new career.

Mr Aggett has previous experience in the industry having worked in a community hall in London and front of house for a theatre company.

But the role is quite a departure from his degree in outdoor activities, leadership and coaching and his former job as a teaching assistant.

He said: 'My wife is a live-in carer up here and we moved up at the end of September. I had been looking for a job and I came to volunteer as I wanted to get out of the house.

'I have had experience with various aspects of the job, so I hope to add to the amazing work the directors do.'

Mr Aggett has a range of ideas for the hall, but wants to focus on attracting more youth involvement.
