A new Beccles gardening group has completed its first project in the town.

Members of the community, working as the Pride in Beccles Gardening Group, joined together to plant six maple trees at the bottom of Rigbourne Hill, gifted by John Foster.

They worked under the guidance of Stephen Malster of Goose Green Nurseries.

Pride in Beccles chairman, Elfrede Brambley Crawshaw, said: “We are hopeful that this will be the beginning of exciting times for our new gardening group which has lots of plans for the future. The gardening volunteers were joined by members of the Beccles Bombles and it was swift work with lots of people and children.”

Their next projects include re-planting the gardens surrounding the shelter at Exchange Square in Beccles and sprucing up the benches with paint and working with the library to improve the green spaces around the building.

Pride in Beccles is a sub committee of Beccles Town Council and new members are welcome.
