Nominations are being sought for community heroes from Bungay who have gone out of their way over the last year to help others.
The Bungay Awards are held each year to honour the town’s volunteers, carers and young sporting stars, with three awards presented by Bungay Town Council.
Nominations are open for the Bezant Cup, Civic Award and Trevor Collyer Cup, with the ceremony due to be held at the Riverside Centre in Bungay on Tuesday, May 22.
Town mayor Mary Matthews said: “We are looking for as many people as possible to get involved with nominations this year. Particularly for the civic award because there’s lots of people out there that are doing fantastic stuff for the community and are not being recognised.
“I saw a lot of Facebook posts in the snow with lots of young guys going out of their way to help people, but it could also be volunteers, carers and just anyone who goes that extra mile.
“We want lots of people to get involved and also come along to the awards evening.”
The Bezant Cup is awarded annually to the person who is considered to have made the largest contribution to sport in Bungay or the Bungay resident who is considered to have made the largest contribution to a particular sport or sports whether in Bungay or elsewhere.
The Civic Award seeks to recognise people who give exceptional and often unsung community service within the town of Bungay.
Meanwhile the Trevor Collyer Cup will be presented to the young person - between 11 and 18 - living in Bungay or being educated in one of the town’s schools, who has during the preceding 12 months given outstanding service and commitment to their team, club or voluntary association including school team or other out of school activity.
Nominations can be sent in as a letter or through a form available from Bungay Town Council, 11 Wharton Street, Bungay, NR35 1EL.
You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org, with ‘Awards’ in the subject line.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, May 14.
The ceremony will also be a chance for residents and nominees to meet the town’s new mayor.
