BROWNIES in Loddon have got just four weeks to find a new leader or see their pack close down.

Joanne Cooper is stepping down after 17 years as Brown Owl because she is moving away from the area. Her move to Swindon will mark the end of a 30-year association with guiding in Loddon - she was a brownie, guide and young leader in the area before taking charge of the 1st Loddon pack in 1991.

She said: “I feel very sad to be going. It's been a big part of my life. But unfortunately it's a decision I've had to take and I'll pick it up again once I have settled down in Wiltshire.”

Mrs Cooper, who lives in Chedgrave, has been helped by her sister, Alison Locksmith, but juggling work and a degree course means she is also stepping down as the pack helper.

Anyone who wants to help keep the pack going can call Joanne Cooper on 01508 520738 or Alison Locksmith on 01508 520169.
