Two people were taken to hospital following a three-car collision during morning rush hour.

The incident occurred on the A146 at Stockton just before 8am today and left one person trapped in their vehicle for more than three hours.

Fire crews from Beccles and Carrow attended the scene and used specialised hydraulic cutting equipment to free the individual.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said: “We received reports of a collision and found one person trapped in their vehicle.

“They were released just before 11.30am.”

Police were also in attendance and closed the road while the rescue operation was under way.

An ambulance crew and ambulance officer were dispatched to the scene by the East of England Ambulance Service.

A spokesman said: “They treated one patient for back pain and another was described as walking wounded.

“Both were taken to James Paget University Hospital for further care.”
