A Bungay couple celebrated 60 years of love and happiness today after reaching their diamond wedding anniversary.
Peter and Ellen Davey tied the knot on October 5, 1957.
The pair met in Ellingham in 1954 and married three years later following Mr Davey’s service in the army.
Mr Davey took his future bride, by bicycle, to the cinema on their first date.
She remembers: “I remember he gave me a box of chocolates. And every time we would go to the cinema, he always bought a box of chocolates for me.”
Their marriage has seen them raise three children Jackie, Chris and Liz and enjoy five grandchildren.
The couple say some of their happiest times came when travelling the world together. They have spent time in America, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and every island in the Caribbean.
Mrs Davey said: “I’m so pleased we can sit and talk about all that we did. We sit and look through the photo albums and can’t believe what we have done.
“We are very thankful to be this age, still together and having seen our children and grandchildren grow up.”
Now in their 80s the pair says they are not able to travel as they use to but there is still the possibility of more adventures ahead.
Mrs Davey added: “We still renewed our passports so you never know.”
