TWELVE streets in Beccles look set to undergo changes to help control and improve traffic.

Residents and businesses in the town were encouraged to give their views on road issues as part of the Beccles Traffic Regulation Order Review - and following feedback from more than 900 responders, Suffolk County Council has drawn up plans detailing proposed changes.

Roads affected are Common Lane North, The Walk, Gosford Road, Puddingmoor, Grove Road, Ringsfield Road, New Market, Ravensmere, Denmark Road, Caxton Road, Gresham Road and Gaol Lane.

Changes in residential areas include alterations to residents parking and single/double yellow lines.

Proposed changes in the town centre are alterations to loading bays, disabled parking bays and limited waiting bays and the closure of New Market to vehicles on Fridays to allow an expansion of the market.

An exhibition will be held at the library, Blyburgate, from Monday, until March 26. Highway officers will be available to answer questions on Friday, March 19, from 10am-6pm, and Saturday, March 20, from 10am-1pm.

Drawings will be published on the council's website at www.suffolk.gov.uk from Monday.
