ORGANISERS of Beccles Carnival are appealing for help to run the event and are urging local people to show their support by entering the traditional parade.

ORGANISERS of Beccles Carnival are appealing for help to run the event and are urging local people to show their support by entering the traditional parade.

This year's carnival will take place on the weekend of August 21-22 and following a well-attended annual general meeting event co-ordinator Annette Tackley has agreed to again oversee the event.

Mrs Tackley said: “Last year's carnival weekend's new style proved to be popular and the public enjoyed the free admission.

“So therefore we will keep the 2010 event to a similar style. We wish to thank all the businesses, groups and individuals for their support last year, although now the hard work begins again trying to source new sponsors for the 2010 event.”

She said people are needed to help with running the event, such as stewards, delivery of leaflets and programmes, car park attendants and other duties.

Mrs Tackley said references can be given to all volunteers who wish to include their assistance on a CV.

She also urged local clubs, pubs, businesses and individuals to support the carnival by entering into the traditional parade.

Beneficiaries of last year's event were The Beccles Mayor's Appeal, Beccles Sea Cadets, Beccles Hospital Fete, Beccles Lido Ltd and St John Ambulance.

The committee is now accepting stall bookings, advertising, sponsorship enquiries and parade entries by email to annette6235@aol.com or by calling 07933028457.
