‘Rogue traders trick people’: Advice issued to householders

Important advice on how to deal with cold callers and rogue traders has been issued.
Lowestoft Police and Suffolk Trading Standards has issued the advice to householders with a number of key points to consider.
■ Always use your door chain and spy hole.
■ Never open your door unless you know who it is.
■ Always ask for identification before opening the door. If in doubt keep them out.
■ Put a sign on your door saying ‘No Cold Callers’.
In social media posts Lowestoft Police Tweeted: “Rogue Traders and Cold Callers - rogue traders trick people, often by pretending to be builders and charging very high prices for unnecessary or shoddy work.
“They will often call without an appointment which is known as ‘cold calling’.”
Anything suspicious should be reported to police as soon as possible on 101.
