OFFICERS at Beccles and Bungay safer neighbourhood Team (SNT) have been engaging with multi-racial migrant workers at the 2 Sisters Chicken Plant in Flixton, to ensure a good relationship between the police and the migrant community.

After a successful launch in March, these engagements have now increased to monthly visits.

The 2 Sisters Food Group is a large international company, employing more then 5,000 people worldwide.

Around 70pc of the 500 workers at the Flixton factory are migrants from EU countries, including Lithuania, Poland and Portugal.

PCSO Brett Butcher, PC Martin Skuse and Waveney migrant community link officer PCSO Ailsa McNamara ran a stand at the factory on Wednesday, May 5, offering standard police literature translated into the languages spoken by the workers.

Information was distributed on personal safety and home security, as well as potential problems regarding differences in European and British law.

There was a focus on the prevention of traffic related offences, with leaflets detailing UK insurance and MOT requirements.

The officers also offered a survey to complete, in order to gauge opinions of the police. Questions covered topics such as confidence in the services offered, and whether the force represents good value for money.
