Popular fancy dress ball back for third year
There will be some freaky fun in Beccles this month with the return of Glitterball’s popular Halloween Ball.
This quirky fixture is fast becoming a seasonal favourite with an ever-growing band of local supporters who like nothing better than to dress up and strut their stuff.
And what finer way to hog the limelight than at this year’s Strictly-themed event at the Beccles Public Hall on Saturday, October 29.
The event, which is now in its third year, was started by a group of friends who wanted to raise money for local causes. Isabel Pollock, chairman of Glitterball, said: “Preparations are nearly complete and boy are we going off with a bang! We have top notch entertainment including a sinister showcase from Luke Miller, the British under 21s UK Latin Champion, a Belle Epoch ‘spooktacular’, our best dressed competition and wall to wall top notch disco tunes in-between. You won’t find anything quite like it this side of the Waveney.”
Last year’s sell-out event raised money for the Beccles Station project, the Beccles branch of the NSPCC, the Public Hall and Beccles Lido.
This year, the newly created Glitterball Trust is supporting the Beccles Skatepark community project, which aims to deliver a new skate facility for young people in Beccles.
The event will run from 7.30pm to midnight and tickets, which cost £15, are available from the Public Hall box office, Wine Vaults, Saxon in Beccles or online at www.becclespublichall.org
The organising committee would like to thank Regal Tanks, the Crisps and Ellough Park Raceway for sponsoring the event and Nik Rose for providing the artwork.
