Kettles will be on all over the country on Friday, September 29, as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The event is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer, and the charity asks people to host their own coffee mornings in exchange for donations. Last year alone, £29.5m was raised for the cause, and this year they are aiming to raise even more.
And as part of Sir John Leman High School’s continued contribution towards local charities, this year’s Sixth Form Council will be hosting their own coffee morning. The Beccles school will be staging the event on Friday from 10am to noon in the main hall, and the community is invited in to enjoy coffee and cake.
Other events are being held locally on Friday at Rosedale funeral home in Hungate, Beccles, from 2pm to 4pm, at the home of Tracey Hales at 21 Wissett Road, Halesworth from 10am to 4.30pm, at Goddards Estate Agents in the Thoroughfare in Halesworth between 10am and 11.30am and at Every Day’s a Picnic on Norwich Road, Hedenham, from 10.30am.
And on Saturday September 30, it will be the turn of The Hub, the new village hall for Huntingfield, Heveningham and Ubbeston, to stage an event. The coffee morning will run from 10.30am to noon, with children making cookies from 9am to 10am for the sale. There will also be a range of cakes with tea and coffee available. The Hub can be found in Brick Kiln Lane, Huntingfield.
