BUNGAY band Remould stole the show on Friday evening as they carried off the Battle of the Bands title in the fourth annual event staged by the Beccles Carnival committee.
They were unanimously voted the best out of six bands competing at Beccles Middle School. A young punk-alternative rock band, they are made up of Ben Loveday, aged 18, on lead vocals, Craig Frost, 18, on lead guitar, David Loveridge, 17, on rhythm guitar, Robert Carter, 16, on drums, and Rhiannan Gower, 15, on bass guitar.
They formed Remould in 2005, but changed their style in 2007 to one that focuses on their love for music and their own written material, based on deep, honest and open lyrics mixed with catchy riffs, which they believe attracts both young and older audiences.
They win one day's recording at Purple Studios worth over £200, a cash prize and a chance to play an open-air gig to thousands during Beccles Carnival weekend on the Sunday finale evening on the July 20 at Beccles Quay.
David Wright one of the judges said of winners Remould: “They ensured their sound was right and proceeded to enjoy themselves and entertained the audience well. They gave a good sound and vocals, which clearly stood out from the rest.”

The first runner-up was Only Fate Now Lies, formed by four friends from Wymondham High School in 2004 as Feedback. Second runners-up were Palendrome, made up of Benjamin Tatum guitar, Lewis Wright vocals and bass and Joshua Veasy drums and backing vocals. They were formed last autumn as part of the Halesworth Amplifier project.
Last years runner-up Band One Member Short opened the event with a 30-minute set, with lots of their new material included, as last year's winners Remember When are pursuing their incredible music career in London.
The judges for the evening was Mr David Wright from Planet Recording Studios, Neil of A.D music and Mrs T Moore, representing Moore Music Roadshow, which sponsored the event. The Bands all performed a twenty-minute set made up of own and cover material.
Event organiser Annette Tackley said later: “This year we had some fantastic bands and I am glad I was not judging, it was a very tightly fort competition.”
Jenny Williams, newly crowned Beccles Carnival Queen, performed her first duty and presented the trophies to the winning bands.
The Beccles carnival committee thanked all the bands, Beccles Middle School, judges, Purple Studios and sponsors. Further details and photos of the evening from www.becclescarnival.co.uk
