A memory ride has been organised by friends of motocross rider Tom Pattison, who died at Blaxhall Circuit on Sunday.

The motocross community was plunged into mourning on Sunday when Mr Pattison, who lived in Beccles with his wife and young daughter, died whilst competing in the Eastern Centre Motocross Championship at Blaxhall Circuit.

He wore number 183 when racing and was a former pupil at Sir John Leman High School.

The ride in his honour will be held at Blythburgh Motocross Track, from 10am on Sunday.

While final plans for the day are still being made, Mr Pattison's close friend Shaun Southgate, who is helping to organise the event, said that a minutes silence was expected to be held at some point between 12noon and 1pm, with tributes to be made at 1pm to mark a week since his death.

The event is going ahead with the support of Mr Pattison's family.

Mr Southgate said yesterday: 'Me and Tom's friends visited the track last night.

'It's his local track and it was his favourite track. Everyone agreed it was the right idea. Anybody is welcome. It's a day for him.'

Yesterday, Mr Southgate paid an emotional tribute to his friend, who he described as 'an inspiration to everyone and a pleasure to be around'.

'We both had the same outlook on life,' he said. 'We never cared about tomorrow. It was always just live in the moment and that's what he did.'

Many have taken to social media to share their memories and a tribute page, called RIP Tom Pattison #183, has been set up on Facebook.

A justgiving page has also been set up with an aim to raise £500 for Mr Pattison's young family during this difficult time.

A message posted by the page admin read: 'We're raising £500 to show support for Toms young family because Tom was an inspiration, loved and missed by many.'
