A WOMAN from Uggeshall has been honoured with a royal appointment.
June de Moller has been selected as one of four new deputy lieutenants for Suffolk.
She was selected by Lord Lieutenant Tollemache, who is the Queen's representative in the county, and will support the lord lieutenant in his duties such as attending important ceremonies or assisting with Royal visits.
There are currently 34 deputy lieutenants in Suffolk.
Mrs de Moller said: “I am very flattered to be appointed as a DL for Suffolk and proud to be able to do something for the county.
“I am looking forward to learning more about the many and varied charitable organisations which contribute so much to life in Suffolk and to supporting the lord lieutenant in his very important work.”
Deputy lieutenants are selected based on their standing in the community and their involvement with local organisations.
Mrs de Moller is on the council at the University of East Anglia, Aldeburgh Music, and is a member of the Uggeshall PCC. She will perform her first duty in two weeks time.
