Proposals have been put forward for extensions at Ringsfield Primary school and Gunton Primary School near Lowestoft as part of Suffolk County Council's review of schooling in the area, which will see middle schools scrapped from 2011 and primary schools made bigger to cater for year five and six pupils.

At Ringsfield primary, a new glass and timber front extension would increase the teaching space and allow for a bigger staff room.

The plans for Gunton primary, on Gainsborough Drive, include new classrooms for years five and six and a new space for reception classes. Ten additional staff parking spaces would also be provided.

Waveney District Council is expected to make a decision on the plans, which have been drawn up by Suffolk County Council, later this year.
