SCHOOLS in Beccles and Bungay are among those likely to be affected by a one-day strike by the National Union of Teachers next Thursday.

Suffolk County Council today, Thursday, April 17, issued a list of those school which may be affected by the action.

SCHOOLS in Beccles and Bungay were among those affected by a one-day strike by the National Union of Teachers yesterday.

Beccles Middle, Bungay High, Bungay Middle, Bungay Primary, Bungay St Edmunds Roman Catholic Primary, St Benet's Roman Catholic Primary at Beccles, Worlingham Middle and Worlingham Primary were among those where most children had the day off, although in some cases some classes were open.

Teachers and teaching assistants not in the union or in other unions went into school as normal and were occupied with non-teaching duties.

Headteachers at the affected school wrote to parents in good time for them to make other arrangements for the children during the one-day stoppage, which is in support of a pay claim.
