A busy road has been closed after a sewer pipe running underneath it collapsed.

Work to reopen Blyburgate in Beccles is under way after the incident occurred this morning.

An Anglian Water spokesman said: “We have been working to repair a collapsed sewer pipe in Blyburgate in Beccles. The repair to the pipe itself is now complete and our engineers are repairing the road’s surface.

“To allow our team to work safely, the road will remain closed until the work is completed, which will be later today. We are sorry for any disruption this causes.

“Our teams are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible.”
