Sky customers hit with wifi outage after power surge

Sky wifi customers were hit by a mass outage causing panic across the region.

Lowestoft, Halesworth, Southwold and Kessingland customers were all left without access to the internet for two and a half hours on Thursday evening.

The disruption was caused by a power surge in part of the main exchange, affecting the part of the exchange used by Sky for its services.

The company responsible for the exchange, BT Power, repaired the faulty part with service restored for Sky customers shortly afterwards.

Some residents poked fun at those without access to the internet on social media. Twitter user @ClareAngel73 posted: “It seems that half of Lowestoft went into meltdown today after internet & TV signals were lost! #GetCreative #Talk #GoOutside #GetAHobby”

Sky apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers, and asked for customers who continue to experience problems to contact the company directly.
