The grounds of a glorious country estate is set to invite members of the public to a series of special openings.

In addition to the regular Wednesday to Friday openings, Raveningham Gardens will be open between 11am and 4pm every Sunday from July 8 to August 26 to coincide with the agapanthus season.

The agapanthus varieties in the garden are a lasting legacy of the late Priscilla Bacon, a keen agapanthus breeder when she lived on the estate.

Richard Hobbs, Raveningham’s garden consultant and a gardening expert on BBC Radio Norfolk’s Garden Party, will lead Agapanthus Tours in the garden on Friday, July 27 at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2pm and 3.30pm to coincide with Norfolk Day.

Entry to the gardens is £5 for adults, £4.50 for concessions and children under 16 go free. The gardens are 10 miles south east of Norwich, signposted off the A146 at Hales.
