Staff at Albert Pye Primary and Ravensmere Infant School have taken part in a sponsored walk to raise money for defibrillators.

The walk stretched for 10 miles around Walberswick and Southwold. Photo: Albert Pye Community Primary SchoolThe walk stretched for 10 miles around Walberswick and Southwold. Photo: Albert Pye Community Primary School

The walk was planned after staff members from the schools, which are allied by the Albert Pye and Ravensmere Federation, recently updated their first aid training. They subsequently decided that a defibrillator should be purchased for each school.

On Sunday, June 11, staff and friends walked for 10 miles around Walberswick and Southwold.

So far the effort has raised £666, which will go directly towards the cost of the machines.

In 2014, the government’s Department for Education announced that all schools should consider purchasing a defibrillator as part of their first aid kit.

Last year, Lewes MP Maria Caulfield called for a law forcing schools to have defibrillators to save people who have cardiac arrests.

The schools praised everyone who took part in the walk and donated.
