Time is flying by since I was installed as Town Reeve back in early December.

The Town Trust, which is headed by the Town Reeve, owns various properties and land in Bungay so there is always lots going on. The Town Trust is a registered charity and consists of 32 members appointed by the trust or by the town council. It is a great honour to serve as Town Reeve and I am proud that this is my second time in office.

The first month in office is always busy with many Christmas events to attend. Together with the mayor on Christmas morning we visited All Hallows Care Home and Hospital, where we met the staff on duty and some of the residents and patients. The work these two establishments do is amazing and the staff do a fantastic job.

During my year of office I will be raising funds for Bungay Youth Club and the Falcon Meadow Community Trust. Both of these are doing great jobs in the town. A recent quiz night raised £345 for the youth club. Future events include a return of the Land of Hope and Glory Concert being held in St Mary’s Church on July 7, so please put this date in your diary. There is also an exclusive chance to enjoy an Afternoon Tea in Earsham Hall (by kind permission of Annabel Stretton-Derham) and this is taking place on Monday, June 18. Tickets are £25 – these are very limited so if you wish to book please do contact me.

Now hopefully the spring is arriving there will be lots of events coming up across the county to which the Town Reeve usually gets invited together with the mayor. These are always a great opportunity to promote our wonderful town and what we have to offer here in Bungay.

Later in the year the nation will be remembering the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. The town is already planning events to mark this occasion – including taking part in the national beacon event taking place on the evening of November 11 – more details will follow.
