A talented photographer has volunteered his time to create a special Christmas card for a Beccles charity.

Dermot Wesley Smith from The May Centre - a day centre for adults with disabilities - contacted infrared photographer Adee Tallents last year after seeing some of his striking images printed in the newspaper.

Mr Tallents, 46, from Worlingham, has been taking photos for as long as he can remember, most recently experimenting with infrared technology to capture images that pick up the various colours in the spectrum that are not usually visible to the human eye.

Mr Tallents has also been passing his passion onto his partner Rachel Ross, and the duo arranged to meet with Mr Wesley Smith and the rest of The May Centre team to explain more about the process.

It was there that they agreed to offer up one of their images for a Christmas card to raise money for the day centre, with an icy-looking photo of Beccles Quay taken by Miss Ross chosen.

Mr Wesley Smith said: “We are always looking for snowy pictures to use on our Christmas cards and Adee and Rachel’s photos perfectly create that wintry look.

“We met with them and they showed us the sort of work they do and it was brilliant. And they were happy to help without charging us and do it for The May Centre which we are so thankful for.”

The Christmas cards, which come in a pack of five with other designs for £2.50, will be available to buy from a stall at Roys in Beccles today and tomorrow, November 17 and 18, and also at the Beccles Christmas light event next Friday, November 24, from a stall in St Michael’s Church.

They are also available from the Caxton Club in Goal Lane or from The May Centre itself in Ken Markland Way and Mr Wesley Smith is happy to deliver them.

Proceeds will go towards the running of the centre and trips out for its members.

Mr Tallents and his partner have recently been travelling all over East Anglia taking photos of sites of interest and said it was a “privilege” for them to help the charity.
