Students and staff from Sir John Leman High School in Beccles ran, walked or strolled around the 5km course on the school field on Tuesday afternoon.

The fund-raiser is the school’s own version of Cancer Research UK’s famous Race for Life, and over the past three years has raised £24,000 for the charity.

Sponsorship money is still being counted but the school hopes to raise more than £6,500 to help them break the £30,000 barrier.

The run is organised with the help of Beccles Friends of Cancer Research UK and Bungay Black Dog Running Club, and is supported with donations of resources by local businesses including Travis Perkins, Cosseys, Morrisons, Promens and Essex and Suffolk Water.

School headteacher Jeremy Rowe said: “Once again it was a brilliant day and I am so proud of all the students and staff that took part and made it such a worthwhile event. I can’t wait for next year!”

Anyone who would like to donate can visit the school’s Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/L4L2014 or text SJLH99 and either £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070.
