Olly, a 25-year-old office worker from Witham and former pupil of Notley High School, will now take place in the live show element of the prime time contest.
The former karaoke singer, who has recently been playing with a duo he calls the Small Town Blaggers, now faces the daunting prospect of battling it out in the final live shows with eleven other acts.
He is among the favourites to win the show, along with fellow over-25's contestant Danyl Johnson and group Miss Frank.
