Support group donates 100 emergency bags to hospital
The Breathe Easy Beccles and Bungay group has donated 100 more emergency admission toiletry bags for the respiratory ward of the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.
The bags, which include a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, flannel and a razor – are given to people who are taken into hospital at short notice and who do not have anyone to help them pack a bag.
The group supports people affected by lung conditions, their family, friends and carers and has been running since 2009. It was started by Carole Fisk, a long time Breathe Easy supporter.
She said that previous bags donated by their group proved so useful that more were needed.
The donation coincides with Breathe Easy Week – the flagship event in the British Lung Foundation calendar which helps to raise awareness of lung disease. This year’s event runs from June 16 to 22 and will be focusing on breathlessness and early diagnosis.
Breathe Easy Beccles and Bungay and Breathe Easy Great Yarmouth and Waveney will be holding an awareness stall on Great Yarmouth Market Place on Saturday, June 21.
The stall will provide information leaflets about the many lung conditions, and there will be respiratory nurses on hand to answer any medical questions people may have.
