A charitable fund set up in memory of a popular Lowestoft teenager has surpassed a major milestone.

Community projects, worthy causes, organisations and deserving local people across Waveney have all been supported by the Taylor High Memorial Fund, which was started almost seven years ago.

The memorial fund – which was set up by 19-year-old Taylor’s parents, Elaine and Gary High, after his death in a car crash in west Norfolk in March 2011 – is continuing to “pass on Taylor’s smile” with every donation that they make.

And having made more than 105 donations to deserving beneficiaries over the years, the fund has reached another milestone – having raised more than £100,000.

Recently the memorial fund received a boost after more than £350 was raised during a charity cycle challenge.

Last year a group of adventurous men and women – led by event organiser Morgan Hill – cycled a total of 100-miles from Norwich to Thetford, before ending up in Lowestoft.

Mrs High said: “They managed to raise a staggering £350.18 between them.

“This brings the total raised by Taylor’s fund to more than £100,000 since it was started almost seven years ago. Every penny given out locally in the Lowestoft community and 10-mile surrounding area helps deserving causes and people in need.”

The cyclists have given themselves another charity challenge in April. Event organiser, Morgan Hill, said: “On April 15, our team is taking on a beautiful coastal ride from Hunstanton to Lowestoft – a cycle of around 85 miles – to raise money for such an all round wonderful charity that helps so many people every week. Any donations are greatly appreciated small or big. We’re always looking for new team members to ride for such a wonderful charity. Please message Charity Cycle Challenge Team on Facebook, call 07446 725 727 or pledge support https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/charity-cycle-challenge
