A road in Loddon will be closed for up to three weeks for drainage improvement work.

Work is due to start on Monday, July 30, on Beccles Road, and will see new drainage gullies and kerbs installed which will take surface water off the road and should help solve the problem of flood water affecting nearby properties during periods of heavy rain.

The work will be undertaken over a three week period, subject to suitable weather conditions, although Norfolk County Council said the road could be reopened sooner.

In addition, maintenance works will be undertaken to the existing drainage gullies to make them more efficient and new channels will be installed under the existing rainwater pipes dropping down onto the footway.

A diversion route will be in place and will direct traffic via the A146 Loddon Bypass, down High Bungay Road.

Low Bungay Road will remain open during the works and access to all properties will be maintained.

The project will cost around £25,000 and will be carried out by the county council’s community and environmental services department and their contractors.
