Thurlton Primary School, in Church Road, unveiled its new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) outdoor area on Monday, May 21.

Parents, carers, staff, pupils and members of the community gathered to watch Peter Fraser, chairman of Clarion Academy Trust, cut the ribbon and formally open the play area.

The primary school became part of the Clarion Academy Trust last year.

It was through the Trust’s investment, along with generous donations from local business including Adnams Community trust, Cemnex and Ben Burgess, that the development was made possible.

Headteacher Ali Hambley said: “The school has waited a long time for our EYFS outdoor area to complement and enhance the great teaching happening in the classroom.

“We now have an area which will enable our children to explore the natural world in a safe, exciting and stimulating way, giving them the opportunity to problem solve, explore risk taking and take their learning to the next level.”
