Staff and pupils at Ringsfield Primary School are celebrating after receiving an outstanding grade in their latest Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).

The school, which was previously graded good during an inspection in September 2010, was visited by an inspector last month.

The report praised the school for its strategies and initiatives which it said are focused on developing distinctiveness and are carefully planned, discussed and embedded to ensure that they are secure and sustainable. It highlighted the shared commitment by adults and pupils to support the most vulnerable, the high profile and high quality religious education which sends clear signals about the importance of understanding faith and personal belief. It also praised the distinctively Christian collective worship which encourages personal reflection and has a direct and positive impact on attitudes, behaviour and decision-making.

School headteacher Vicky Allen said: “We are really delighted with the report. The whole community, pupils, staff, parents and the wider church community have played a part and it is a representation of all their hard work. “We enjoy being a church school as it brings another dimension to the school and encourages the children to be reflective about their behaviour.”

In order to improve even more, the report said staff and pupils need support in the planning and delivery of class-based collective worship to ensure that there is consistency of provision and non classroom-based staff need a full understanding of the Christian values explored through worship and religious education so that they can play a full part in reinforcing them with pupils.
