A festival saved from the brink will go ahead this weekend thanks to the support of the community.
The Beccles Harvest Moon Festival was in danger of being cancelled after many members of the committee stepped down at the end of last year.
But after a cry for help, a number of music enthusiasts have put their heads together to make sure the popular event is bigger and better this summer. The free festival gets under way tomorrow from noon at Beccles Quay with performances on the main stage from a variety of bands until dusk.
It includes El Gatos Men, who play an eclectic mixture of genres including rock and roll, blues and folk, the River Hundred Folk Band, who are popular in Beccles and original acoustic band The Osborne Files.
Organisers are also using the event to give up and coming talent the opportunity to perform on a stage. There will be a bar and food available, children’s games, face painting, arts and craft stalls and all festival goers are welcome to take a picnic.

Jula Janney, one of the organisers said: “Our new members are making waves with Trevor Brunwin doing the stage management, Richard Wells, site management and Caroline Walsh our first aider. All we need is the weather to look a bit tidy and it should be great.”
