THE Town Reeves of Bungay scrap books are to go on show to the public next weekend.

The books, compiled by each reeve to log the highlights of his or her office, were started in 1932, with Dr Leonard Cane compiling the first, and the hope is that all will be available for the event, on Sunday, November 30, at the Fisher Theatre, from 1-4pm, for townspeople to browse through.

The scrapbooks, once completed, are lodged at Bungay Museum and rarely seen, so it will be a rare opportunity, and they provide a lot of history of the town and its social and civic functions over the past 76 years.

Also on display will be photographs of the Town Reeves and the engraved silver links removed from the chain of office in 2003, as well as the town reeves gown, provided by John Clay in 1952 and worn until a new one was provide in 2002 by that year's town reeve, Susan Curtis.

Many town reeves are expected to be at the event in person. There is no admission charge, but donations are invited for the museum. Also available for sale will be copies of a number of Bungay publications.

# There are still tickets left, available at New Beginnings Florists for the Town Dinner, hosted by the town reeve. This year, for the first time, it is at the Fisher Theatre, next Friday, November 28 and tickets are £20.

# John Harris, who earlier this year brought out an updated edition of his book, The Town Reeves of Bungay, has produced a supplement to it to include the current town reeve, Martin Evans. Copies cost 50p and both it and copies of the book (which costs £6.95) are available at the Toy and Gift Emporium, the Chocolate Box, and Bardsley's Books.
