Hundreds of people enjoyed a day of family fun at the annual Henstead Village Fete.

The event, which has been taking place for six years, offered a range of traditional fete games including wellie throwing, tractor rides and fete games. “The event is arranged by Geoff and Paula Block,” said Andrew Brogan, who owns the Henstead Exotic Garden. “It had everything from pony rides, quad bike driving and digger rides.

“There were hundreds of people who turned up and it was a lovely sunny day. The animals are always a popular, especially for the youngsters.

“The dog show is one of the big attractions and it was incredible to see the amount of dogs there.”

The fete, held last weekend, raised around £2,000 for the upkeep of Henstead Church.

Mr Borgan added: “It’s a very good amount and it is the most we’ve made. Each year it gets more.”

A BBQ will be held at the Exotic Garden next Sunday, August 23, from 12.30pm.

There will be an auction with money raised going towards the church.

Entry is £3 and includes a glass of wine and access to the gardens.
