Firefighters freed a driver from their vehicle as a village road was closed for eight hours following a two-car crash.

Motorists were warned of possible delays as diversions were put in place, after the B1437 London Road was closed in both directions from the A12 to Field Lane at Kessingland near Lowestoft on Saturday afternoon (January 30).

The road was closed about 12.20pm on Saturday, with investigations and recovery of the vehicles carried out at the scene after police, the East of England Ambulance Service and firefighters were called following a road traffic collision in Kessingland at 11.59am.

A crew from Wrentham fire station and two crews from Lowestoft South fire station responded.

A Lowestoft South Fire Station spokesman said they attended a "two vehicle RTC on the A12 at Kessingland," with crews using "rescue equipment to extricate one casualty."

The fire crews had left the scene at 12.46pm, and the road was reopened about 8pm.
