A group of volunteers were out in force over the May bank holiday at Falcon Meadow.
The 4.2 acre site lies between Bungay and Ditchingham and was taken over by the Falcon Meadow Community Trust three years ago, who secured the Waveney-side water meadow as a publicly owned amenity.
The trust has now declared war on the stinging nettles which currently blight the site, and the team got to work cutting them back and removing their cuttings for composting.
A small army of over 40 trust supporters were involved in the task, which had to be conducted with care.
Falcon Meadow boasts floral delights such as the Early Marsh Orchid, whose preservation is as important as the nettle elimination.
The Trust, which aims to develop the meadow as recreational space and to improve its potential as a wildlife habitat, is now getting ready for its biggest public event - the third Great Bungay Duck Race on Sunday, July 9.
