PARENTS of primary schoolchildren in Suffolk will soon be able to find out what's on the lunchtime menu through social networking site Twitter.
After half-term details of the following day's meals at primary schools will also be posted on the popular internet site.
Chris Denny, from Suffolk County Catering, said: “We've found that many parents and carers like to know what's going to be on the menu.
“This new service will allow parents to be better informed as to what's being offered each day, helping them determine what to prepare in the evening or whether or not to have a school meal the following day.”
The new service comes as a whole new range of lunches will be available in primary, middle, and secondary schools.
Suffolk County Council said meals will not only be nutritious and balanced, but a bigger choice will be available to ensure that pupil needs are met if they are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements.

Printed menus will available in schools for distribution to parents. Parents can download menus from Suffolk's catering website, along with nutritional information such as carbohydrate data which is useful for those monitoring the diet of children, such as those with diabetes.
The Twitter service will only relate to meals served in primary schools across the county and parents and guardians will need to register for a free Twitter account in order to receive the updates.
Once registered, you will need to start following Suffolk County Council via www.twitter.com/suffolkcc.
