People living in Shadingfield had great pleasure in presenting a cheque for £1,227 to The Royal British Legion (Beccles Branch) in respect of their fund raising efforts in 2014.
“To commemorate the 100th anniversary since the start of the First World War, in August we organised a weekend of events including the planting of roses, dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the village.
“There was also a short, meaningful service of remembrance held by Rev Canon Paul Nelson, on the patio of The Shadingfield Fox.
“The altar cloth was brought from the church and many local residents attended, including Lord Jim Prior,” said Robbie London.
Beccles Boot Camp did an ‘Insane Terrain’ assault course in September and their sponsorship money (£500) is included in the total.
Although the main objective was to fund-raise, it was a great opportunity for the villagers to get to know each other and create a sense of community spirit.
Organisers would like to say a huge thank you to Beccles traders who supported the project with their donations.
