A group promoting community sustainability has presented a cheque to a local charity at a special ceremony in the Bungay Library Garden.
On Wednesday, October 25, members of Sustainable Bungay - a community-led response to climate change - met with volunteers from BACT community transport to hand over the sum of £200.
The money was raised in June at an event held in memory of the late MP Jo Cox, who was killed in her constituency in 2016.
Mrs Cox said in her first parliamentary speech “we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us”, leading to a national commemoration of the anniversary of her death called ‘The Great Get-Together’, where proceeds are donated to community organisations.
Library Garden volunteers decided that community transport is vital in keeping people connected and chose to make a donation to BACT, whose volunteer drivers help people living in Waveney for whom public transport is not easily available.
