A Beccles-based youth theatre group is putting the final touches on its latest action-packed musical.

Waveney Light Opera Group’s Rising Stars will be staging its forthcoming production of Treasure Island at Beccles Public Hall from Thursday, March 22 to Saturday, March 24.

The cast of seven to 18-year-olds have been working hard to adapt Robert Louis Stevenson’s iconic adventure novel into a rip-roaring show.

A WLOG spokesman said: “This salt-encrusted musical adventure stays faithful to the original story, narrating a tale of buccaneers and buried gold, wicked pirates and buried treasure.”

A live band will accompany the costumed cast who have previously staged performances of Bugsy Malone, Les Misérables and Joesph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Rosie Ashdown-Nicholl, who will be playing the lead role of Jim Hawkins, recently won first place in the Beccles Young Vocalist of the Year competition.

Tickets for the performance, costing £10 for adults and £7.50 for children, are available at the hall box office by calling 01502 770 060 or online at www.becclespublchall.org.uk
